Prints – Wave it, Swirl it

We’ve been browsing around for great shots of patterns used during Paris Fashion Week, and we found some good ones over at none other than TheSartorialist of course!

We absolutely LOVED the wave and swirly design used at one of the designer shows. The organic marbleized technique was seen on jackets, dresses and even down to socks. We sense a “wave” of retro patterns coming soon!

Trending – Retro 70′s

It’s no secret that 70’s is going to be a major hit for S/S 2011. During Fashion Week NY and Milan, designers have shown a particular interest in going retro by using unique colorwayssilhouettes, and accessories in defining the groovy decade.

We searched through our archives and found a vintage issue of Vogue dating back to 1970! Check out this spread we found featuring a strong focus on bold and graphic prints of the time. We love the cartoon aspect and bright colors! This time period has a lot to offer for fresh new takes in prints, graphics and cool motifs.

Prints – Geometrically Speaking

The SS/2011 runways showcased more than a handful of designers being influenced by the iconic Peggy Guggenheim.

Whether it was for her extroverted character, style, jewels or statement sunglasses, we as textile designers can see all the reasons to be inspired as well. Peggy was an art lover, collector and advocate for all things avant-garde. She accumulated and promoted cutting edge pieces by influential artists such as Picasso, Man Ray,  Dali, Miró, Chagall and many others.

We think she would definitely approve of some unconventional, colorful and bold textile and graphic prints like the ones we put together.

Feeling inspired by Peggy? Find these textiles and more by in our Geometric-inspired collection!
