Knitwear – Seeing Perú

Peruvian culture and a native way of dressing has various designers buzzing this season.

As textile designers we couldn’t help but fall in love with the attention to detail and sense of aboriginal decoration. And although there is an immense appreciation for native handmade exquisite wovens, we thought that this theme would make quite an impact in knitwear, especially now that Fall/Winter is here!

Check out some beautiful knit designs and prints that relate to this current trend!

Prints – 70′s Comeback

Reflecting on the 70s trend from our recent post…we compiled a few prints that capture the essence of the bright, fun, and groovy decade. We found that funky abstract florals, bold geo’s, and psychedelic colorways are the perfect mix to accurately represent this rising trend in textiles!

Trending – Retro 70′s

It’s no secret that 70’s is going to be a major hit for S/S 2011. During Fashion Week NY and Milan, designers have shown a particular interest in going retro by using unique colorwayssilhouettes, and accessories in defining the groovy decade.

We searched through our archives and found a vintage issue of Vogue dating back to 1970! Check out this spread we found featuring a strong focus on bold and graphic prints of the time. We love the cartoon aspect and bright colors! This time period has a lot to offer for fresh new takes in prints, graphics and cool motifs.

Pastels may be the norm for childrenswear, but how about some colorful prints? We feel that a brigher and bolder approach would freshen up this market! Check out how easy it is to turn a onesie into a conversation piece! Try your hand at designing with all sorts of fun combinations.

Stripes – Striped Down

It’s a fact that stripes are big this season – and by BIG we mean size proportions! Menswear and Womenswear RTW collections showed an interest in going bold with large scale stripes on everything from jackets to dresses. Some designers took a chance with coordinatedshort suits in neutral stripes, while others elongated the figure in wide vertical stripes. Risky? Yes. Do you think consumers will catch on to this trend in stripes?
